Katti Sta. Ana

Katti Sta. Ana

Katti Sta. Ana is an educator, ceramist, painter, illustrator, and activist whose body of work covers a wide range of styles and themes.

She finished her Bachelor of Fine Arts, major in Painting in 1991, and her Masters of Arts (MA) in Urban and Regional Planning in 2006, both at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman. Sta. Ana learned ceramics at Baltimore Clayworks where she served as a community artist-in-residence from 2009 to 2010. She also earned her MA in Community at the Maryland Institute College of Art, USA as a Fulbright scholar.

She uses clay to lament the disappearing Philippine flora and fauna. This was first seen in Vanishing, her solo exhibit at Mag:net Gallery in 2012, then in Devour which was located at the third floor galleries of the UP Vargas Museum in 2017.

In 2000, she was awarded as one of the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Thirteen Artists. She also received one of UP Diliman’s Centennial Professional Chairs, Faculty Grant Awards, as well as the UP Artist II for her recent works.

She previously worked as chair of the Department of Studio Arts and now works as an assistant professor at the UP College of Fine Arts.
